The land where the gardens are has a picturesque view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and also of the Olympic Mountains. The garden is not only known for its views and peacefulness, it is also known for the couple whose love affair lasted seven decades and three continents, they built the gardens out of what they termed as love. There are rhododendrons that are planted throughout the garden giving splashes of color along with the greenery, there are oak trees that shade the walking paths, and there are also Japanese Maples, rock and alpine plants. That all lend to the charm of the garden that the visitor will sense when they enter the paths.
